Mustangs defeat Morgan Township
in PCC Matchup

As the first bell rang at school on Monday, most believed the Kouts Mustangs would be travelling to Gary to play Morgan Township at the U.S. Steelyard. After lunch, it was determined that Kouts would host the game due to field conditions in Gary. Interestingly enough, Kouts would be the visiting team at their home ballpark given the team designations by the PCC Conference.

Seven innings later, the Mustangs claimed victory. Freshman Owen Winters threw a complete game, keeping the Cherokees off balance from the start. Winters also chipped in with two hits of his own.

Cole Deardorff continued his hot hitting as of late, going 4 for 4 with a double and home run. In Deardorff's last at-bat on Friday, he was robbed of a home run by Dylan Paul, the left fielder for Boone Grove. Paul made a great effort and play. Deardorff kept his aggressive approach going against Morgan Township and it paid off in a big way!

Senior Ian Garavalia also knocked in two runs on a single to shallow centerfield, fighting off a tough pitch and netting two huge insurance runs for the Mustangs, making the score 5-1 at the time.

Next up, the Mustangs are set to square off against South Bend Career Academy at home on Thursday for a 4:30 first pitch.

On Saturday, the Mustangs will travel to South Central for their third conference game of the season. First pitch is set for 10:00 AM.
